London Calling

We are here in London now. After a very long flight with way too many delays, we arrived yesterday at 10:00am London time. That is 2:00am PST for those of you keeping track. TIRED does not begin to describe how we all felt by the time we got to the hostel. Our baggage situation is completely nuts since we are not just here for a vacation, but to move. 5 people (2 adults, 2 teens, 1 child) 7 large bags, 5 carry-ons, guitar, bike, various backpacks and purses = torturous ride on the Underground from the airport to our hostel. The bombings on 7/7 left the line that we need to get to where we are staying closed. That meant transfering out of the way and then taking a taxi the rest of the way. I suppose we could have taken a bus but honestly I don't think our stuff would have fit through the door. We decided to bite it and spent the ££ (oh - my first use of the £ sign!) and get the taxi. Or taxis. It took two for all of us and they were packed solid with our crap. We really need to travel lighter.

Today was just doing tourist things. We have business to take care of tomorrow but decided today was a leisure day. Personally, I am looking forward to visiting the corner pub for a beer later. Priorities being what they are and all.

Moving Along

We are down to the final count for the big move. We fly out of Seattle for London on Saturday. Today all the furniture is gone and it is just boxes, some random crap to pack, and our bags left. We are staying at my parent's house for the next few days and coming down here in the daytime to finish things up.

I think I am going to find that I have a great deal of work to do away from her house and may even need to 'pull an all nighter' at Tina's house. I almost told my mother to fuck off today. I really need to not do that for just a few more days and then I am out of here. We're not moving to get away from them, but let me tell you that it is a nice little perk to the whole scene.

If you haven't checked in at our family travel blog recently be sure to do so. Soon we will actually travelling!!!!!!!!! Link in the side bar - Beneath Our Feet.
